"Proclamation 1982" is an augmented reality (AR) app developed by the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) in partnership with Library and Archives Canada. This AR experience is designed to accompany the exhibit called "Canada’s Legal System: A Unique and Evolving History." It complements a milestone document in Canada’s human rights story, the Proclamation of the Constitution Act, 1982. Five stories within the app feature animated characters and a unique blend of original and archival imagery. After locating a virtual artifact of the Proclamation, users experience the stories and discover the impact of this groundbreaking document on their own human rights. They learn how the Proclamation strengthened human rights protections by enacting the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

"Proclamation 1982" was created by CMHR staff and future tech company Brave New World. This app experience is designed for viewing on a tablet inside the Museum or by downloading it onto an iOS device. Visitors can learn more about it from the CMHR’s website, under “Exhibitions.”
